The Zandvoort racetrack will be a little greener than usual on Friday, Sept. 23, and, above all, much quieter. Driving on green hydrogen is in the spotlight that afternoon. Hydrogen in mobility: From plans to practice is the central theme of the congress.
"I want to show the enormous potential of green hydrogen," he said.
Dr. Ir. Daniël Bakker of KWR is one of the speakers on concrete applications with green hydrogen. Daniël works as an Energy and Water researcher in the Energy and Circular Systems team at KWR. He investigates the opportunities and challenges of the interaction between the energy transition and the water cycle. He is associated with the European demonstration project LIFE NEW HYTS and shows that the step to practice is already possible. In LIFE NEW HYTS, the consortium of Province of Utrecht, KWR and industry are working together on this practical demonstration project. They are implementing a local green hydrogen value chain in the province of Utrecht. This starts with the generation of green energy by a 9MWP solar field, the production of hydrogen by electrolysis, distribution via a hydrogen filling station for heavy commercial vehicles. In addition, the project has a focus on training technical personnel to maintain hydrogen vehicles and sharing the knowledge to get others to take this step as well.
Another advocate of green hydrogen and speaker this afternoon is Arne Schaddelee, deputy of the Province of Utrecht. He shows with the Hydrogen Covenant Utrecht -with already 111 participating parties- how the cooperation between governments, knowledge institutions and industry is taking shape.
